Sambal petai di Hari Raya

9 10 2009

Hi,

The rest is same. What do you expect from Hari Raya? Lemang, tart, baraan, seeking forgiveness & stuff. This year my father calling me to balik kampung early to help him to kacau dodol! This is freaking HUGE assignment lol. In my mind I already know how tiring the kacau dodol process. So the last day, in early morning, I help my mother to fill in beras in the lontong container.

Then helping my father to blend red bean by blender. The dodol is not the usual dodol. It is powered by red bean flavor.

Then after all ingredients ready, the cooking @ kacau process starts. Luckily I have two brothers to help. We decide to laverage LOL our power to achieve our target (dodol smpi masak). 5 minutes per peson to kacau dodol. So work for 5 minutes and rest for 10 minutes. We are grateful that some pakistan dude comes and help us. 930am to almost 1 pm. Penat..

Then that day my family was cooking dishes for tomorrow’s Hari Raya. Masak ayam kunyit, ayam semur (kicap in malay, ketchup in english), sambal tahun kerang, sup daging, sambal tahun kulit lembu and etc (sudah lupa). That evening also I was cooking a dish myself..oh..guided by my sister la. Petai powered anchovies sambal.  So I want share the recipe technique to cook it..

  1. (3 biji red onions + 2 biji garlic + cili padi + sikit belacan + gula + garam) di ganyang ditumbuk
  2. Goreng the anchovies first, then toskan
  3. Bg minyak ckit, goreng bahan di tumbuk tadi.
  4. Masukkan ckit air asam
  5. Masukkan bilis
  6. MIx mix mix..and lastly put in the petai…siap.

The funny thing was that evening all family members were fasting. No one can taste when cooking it. So when breaking, all dishes x masin, masam & manis. Except my sambal. Enough flavor. My family use my sambal to cover another tasteless cook.  In 5 minutes already sold out. So my sambal is HUGE SUCCESS~ ehehe

That is my sweet memory in Hari Raya that i won’t forget until my last breath on this world..
